Former Tanintharyi Region Chief Minister sentenced to 30 years’ imprisonment

Tanintharyi Region court reportedly sentenced former region government Chief Minister Dr. Lei Lei Maw charged with corruption to 30 years’ imprisonment in four cases.

On May 22, the region court sentenced Dr. Lei Lei Maw to 10 years’ imprisonment in each case but the court ordered to serve the sentences in third and fourth case concurrently so that she has to serve total 30 years’ imprisonment in these four cases.

Co-accused in these cases with former CM Dr. Lei Lei Maw, manager of GGS Company Thein Htway was sentenced to 10 years’ imprisonment and another co-accused manager Thura Ohn was sentenced to five years’ imprisonment for their role in bribing CM.

Eyewitnesses at the court said that all three convicts in these cases were taken back to Dawei prison immediately after the court pronounced its judgments.
