Mon State Government should help the salt-manufacturers in Mon State to get bank loans for their sustainability, according to Minn Tin Win Maung (alias) Nai Hu, a member of Mon State salt-manufacturers’ association live in Pa-nga, Thanbyuzayat Township.

“The government needn’t issue the loans. Instead, it should give recommendation to the banks to borrow the salt-manufacturers in accordance with the bank manual. Salt-manufacturers have to submit the form-7 asserting their possessions for the loans. Then, they will get the bank’s backing for their business,” Nai Hu told Mon News Agency.
As the consumers’ goods, the fuel price and laborer’s charges increased, one viss of salt costs a hundred kyats at least for sale in this season, he added.
But, there is no policy of government loan for salt industry, such as government takes the bank loans and then borrows to the salt-manufacturers, according to the Dr. Minn Kyi Win, Minister for the Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation.
“Banks issue loans in line with their rules and regulations. If the applicants submitted their loan-forms faultlessly, they would obtain the loans. It’s different for the government to take responsibilities for the loans. The government policy is different from the bank. As the loans are related between the borrowers and the banks, the government has no responsibility. The government has also no policy of taking bank’s money and issuing loans to the businessmen,” Dr. Minn Kyi Win told Mon News Agency.
However, government will communicate with other respective ministries to help with the form-7 process to the businessmen who do not have the respective papers. Similarly, the government will also help agricultural farm-owners who obtained form-7 and wants to change the permission for other purposes, the minister said.
The salt industries of Mon State cover nearly 3,000 acres of salt-patches in Thanbyuzayat, Ye and Paung Townships and produce over 30,000 metric tons yearly.
