A civil-based organization, anti-drug campaigners (Pat Ja San), has been received an honorary certificate by the Government Police Force regarding its anti-narcotic activities in Namtee’s Lambraw Yang village. It was the first time Pat Jasan has received an award from the government.
Pat Ja San has been assisting police force to decrease crimes in the area in many ways. On October 1 which marks the 54th Anniversary of Myanmar Police Force Day, the Namtee Police Force in Moe-gaung Township honored the Pat Ja San for its partnership in anti-drug campaigns.
An anti-drug campaigners’ group (Pat Ja San) was established in 2014 throughout Kachin State. It has been taking part in eradication of poppy fields and also uncovered drug-users to take action.
When Pat Ja San started its anti-drug campaigns, there were various difficulties due to different opinions with the authorities, according to Thomas Nhkang who is in charge of the Pat Ja San group in Namtee’s Lambraw Yang village.
“However, the Government Police Force shows harmony with Pat Ja San in order to eradicate narcotic drugs. It’s necessary to coordinate with police force and we’re happy to work with the police in anti-drug campaigns,” Thomas Nhkang said.
Pat Ja San of Lambraw Yang village is endeavoring to make their village as a ‘drug free zone’ before end of 2018.
