“[The ministry] is asking us to immediately submit the organization of Toungup University since Toungup Degree College will be upgraded as a university,” said U Myint Swe, headmaster of Toungup University College.

He continued that the university  is not upgraded official so far and the degree college has not been upgraded yet.

“It hasn’t been officially upgraded as a university. It will [be upgraded] soon. We need to submit the university organization that fully comprises university features. We can submit it on upcoming Monday. [The degree college] will only be announced as a university after this has been submitted,” said U Myint Swe.

The ministry instructed five degrees to submit their organizations in order to upgrade them to the university level. These degree colleges are Myeik Degree College, Yenangyang Degree College, Mandalar Degree College, Mohnyin Degree College, and Toungup Degree College.

Toungup College was opened on February 23, 2012. It was upgraded as a degree college on October 11, 2016.
