Tatmadaw fires heavy weapons near KIO headquarters in Laiza

The Tatmadaw has bombarded heavy weapons in the surroundings of the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) headquarters in Laiza, Kachin State on May 12, according to an official from the All Burma Students’ Democratic Front – North (ABSDF-North).

“Heavy weapons were fired this morning. They were fired at around 2 am this morning. Around 10 heavy weapons have been fired. They were fired from 2 am to 2:15 or 2:20 am,” he said.

The ABSDF official said the Tatmadaw has also opened fire on neighborhood of Mai Ja Yang, the education town of the Kachin Independence Organization (KIO).

“We heard that shots have been fired at Inbarpar, Mai Ja Yang, and Laisin areas,” he said.

However, no casualty or damages have been reported despite the bombardments of heavy weapons, he added.
