The Delegation for Political Negotiation (DPN) second leader Nai Aung Ma Nge said negotiations between United Nationalities Federal Council (UNFC) and government were very close to being settled on their 8-point proposal for signing the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement (NCA) as over two thirds of these points had been agreed.

UNFC sent their 8-point proposal to government and said that they would sign NCA if all these points were agreed.

Currently, the UNFC’s negotiating team, the DPN, have agreed points numbered 1 to 4 with the government’s negotiating team, Peace Commission (PC), they are continuing their negotiations on the 4 remaining points.

DPN second leader Nai Aung Ma Nge said, “Point number 5 has been fundamentally agreed to and point number 6 was almost settled. We have to conclude our negotiation on point number 7 a little bit more. So we have concluded and passed over two thirds of our proposal.”

The UNFC consists of four ethnic armed organizations which have not yet signed NCA, namely Arakan National Council (ANC), Lahu Democratic Union (LDU), New Mon State Party (NMSP) and Karenni National Progressive Party (NMSP).
