A Mandalay court will announce on October 27 the result of an appeal by calling for the denial of bail handed to Myanmar Now Editor-in-Chief Swe Win.

Plaintiff Kyaw Myo Shwe registered case against Swe Win on March 7 under section 66(d) of the Telecommunications Law for posting on his Facebook account a post deemed offensive regarding Abbot Wirathu.

Following the granting of bail to Swe Win, the plaintiff took issue with this step and appealed.

Advocate Than Than Soe who represents Swe Win said, “The court heard arguments today. As the contra party submitted their argument in written form, not verbally, so we too submitted our written argument. The court will pronounce judgment on this appeal case on October 27.”

Swe Win was also summoned to appear before Maha Aung Myay Township court at Lower Strand Road, Mandalay for another case on October 16.
