More people displaced by fighting have arrived at Nga Za Rine Kine Village in Kyauktaw Township, Arakan State.

U Hla Maung Thein one of the internally displaced people (IDPs) said: “A total of 17 men and women arrived here at 6.30pm yesterday [17 May]. They are from Late Phar Village.”

Of those new arrivals seven were men and 10 were women.

Last week a total of 49 IDPs arrived in Nga Za Rine Kine Village. Of those 36, consisting of 19 men and 17 women, were from Kinn Pi Village and the remaining 13, consisting of seven men and six women, were from Mee Kyaung Khote Village.

U Hla Maung Thein said: “They fled because there are military troops [in their areas]. It was difficult to make a living. They fled because of these situations.”

Currently there are 171 IDPs sheltering in Nga Za Rine Kine Village. Though they have enough food since the monsoons started they are facing difficulties finding shelter.
