MNA Expands Yangon-Kyaukphyu-Man Aung Flights Amid Sea Route Restrictions

Myanmar National Airlines (MNA) has announced an expansion of the Yangon-Kyaukphyu-Man Aung flight route to three days a week starting on April 24, 2026.

Flights will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays to facilitate travel for regions with severely limited transport options.

Man Aung Township, located on Man Aung Island and home to approximately 80,000 residents, heavily relies on sea transport. However, this mode of transport has been restricted by the Myanmar military due to ongoing conflict with the Arakan Army (AA).

The AA has captured 14 townships in Rakhine State and Paletwa in Chin State. Man Aung, along with the capital Sittwe and Kyaukphyu (site of major Chinese projects), are among the few remaining areas not under full AA control.
