According to the Chin Human Rights Organization (CHRO)'s March 27 update, 106 children have died in Chin State since the February 2021 coup, with most deaths resulting from airstrikes attributed to the junta.
Airstrikes accounted for 53 child deaths—nearly half of the total. A further 38 children were killed by artillery shelling and 15 by small arms. It also reported that the victims included infants.
Civilian casualties have risen since November 2025, when the junta intensified its aerial assault campaign in Chin State, the CHRO said.
On February 10, the junta carried out a double-tap bombing raid on Tlangkhua Village in Thantlang Township, Chin State, killing 6 civilians and injuring 7 others, including 4 students, at a construction site.
The Ministry of Human Rights of the resistance-run National Unity Government (NUG) reported that the junta carried out 184 airstrikes nationwide in November 2025 alone, killing 130 civilians, including 17 children.
The NUG alleged that the junta has deliberately intensified its bombing of civilian targets, including homes, villages, schools, and religious buildings.
The Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP) said 2025 recorded the highest number of civilian deaths from junta airstrikes, with the trend continuing into March 2026.
After setbacks in ground offensives against resistance forces, the junta has increased its use of air power and attacks on civilians. Casualties, including children, have risen by about 50 percent since late 2025 compared with the same period previously, according to the AAPP.
