Khaing Lu Hla (Roma Mray) — Arakan public health department under the ULA/AA distributes a large number of masks and pamphlets in the western border town of Maungdaw after a Nipah virus infected patient died last month in Bangladesh, reported Arakan Princess Media.

Those items were distributed among the residents by the officials under the Arakan People’s Revolutionary Government, including DLEPS (police), HDCO staff, health department staff, and Arakan National League party leaders officials.

They also explained to the people about the danger of Nipah virus which needs some precautions.

The  health officials also warned the Arakanese people not to be careless about the virus as the infection may emerge as  life-threatening.

The health department in collaboration with others has been  working tirelessly to educate the people living in the Arakan region about the new-found disease.

As there is no specific medicine for the Nipah virus infection, preventions are being assumed as the best measure to face the situation, said a statement of the health department.

Recently, a woman aged between 40 and 50 died of Nipah virus infection in northern Bangladesh.
