Due to a new offensive by the junta forces, around one thousand internally displaced households who are sheltering at a displacement camp in the eastern part of Loikaw Township, Karenni State, have been forced to flee again in search of safety.

The junta troops not only launched ground offensives but also carried out airstrikes. Thus, nearly two-thirds of the households in the camp are forced to relocate, according to a member of the IDP committee.

“The main reason for the new displacement is that the junta troops launched another ground attack. Then, their jet fighters also came and opened fire, so the people had to move again. Out of about 1,500 families, around two-thirds, approximately one thousand households, have fled once more,” said a committee member.

Since mid-October, the junta’s ground offensives have frequently clashed with local resistance forces, while airstrikes by the junta have also injured one man and one woman in the IDP camp.

The camp, which has existed for over four years, is a home to around 1,500 displaced families.

Because of the recent displacement, many people are now facing severe hardships and urgent humanitarian needs.
