Junta airstrike on Lang Se reportedly kills 2 locals

In Kachin State, two locals were reportedly killed when the junta carried out an airstrike on Tsawlaw Township’s Lang Se gold mining area, which is controlled by the Kachin Independence Army (KIA).

On September 22, around 2:00 pm, junta aircraft carried out two bombing runs on Lang Se, killing two people and injuring several others, according to sources close to the matter.

“The plane dropped bombs, targeting the areas around the KIA’s regional headquarters in Lang Se,” a Lang Se resident said.

He added that two locals were killed and several others injured in the air assault, though MNJ has not yet confirmed the full casualty list.

On September 17, 17 KIA military trainees were killed in a junta airstrike on KIA-controlled territory in Shwegu Township, Kachin State.

The KIA captured the entire Tsawlaw Township, including Lang Se, on October 2, 2024. Lang Se is known for its gold mining operations.

In recent days, the junta and its allied forces have launched an offensive to retake Lang Se‌.
