IDPS Urgently Need Mosquito Nets in Salin Township, Sagaing Region

About 900 displaced people (IDPs) sheltering in Salin Township, Minbu District, Sagaing Region, are in urgent need of mosquito nets to protect them from mosquito borne diseases.

A member of Salin People’s Defence Force (PDF) said to Than Lwin Times: “The main need right now is mosquito nets. They’ve been suffering from health issues caused by mosquito bites since they were displaced. They’re also struggling to find clean drinking water.”

There are about 900 IDPs from 157 households. They fled from Naypukhan and Kokkotan villages in Salin Township during March 2025 when junta soldiers raided the villages and set houses on fire.

The villagers fled to nearby farmland, also in Salin Township where they are still sheltering in temporary shelters.

On 11 May Salin PDF announced that it had donated 4 pyis (around 8 kilograms) of rice to each IDP family, amounting to a total of 29 bags of rice.

Junta soldiers first entered Naypukhan Village on 12 March. They then proceeded to burn down 157 houses in the villages Naypukhan and Kokkotan.
