Junta airstrike kills two, injures four in Kanpetlet Township, Chin State

A junta airstrike killed two civilians, including a  three-year-old child and severely injured four others, including a  6-month-old baby, in SatChauk Village in Kanpetlet Township, Chin State.

The junta airstrike targeted a school in SatChauk Village and hit at around 1:48 pm on 13 August 2024.

A resident said: “All the deceased and injured individuals are local civilians. No fighting was happening. They deliberately targeted and bombed the area. The casualties include children as well. The area was hit with 500-pound bombs.”

The two killed civilians were named as three-year-old Mg Htan Ma Nar and 42-year-old Daw Hlaing Hlei.

The four injured civilians were a six-month-old baby girl, a 12-year-old child, and two adults.

The airstrike also destroyed a school and four houses. A further two houses were damaged.

A resident said that at the time of the airstrike there had been no fighting in the area of SatChauk Village and civilians had been deliberately targeted with about six bombs, two of which were 500 pound bombs.

All the residents of SatChauk Village have fled into the surrounding forest because they fear further airstrikes.
