KA, KNDF Form Security Force for Shadaw Township

The Karenni Army (KA) and Karenni Nationalities Defense Force (KNDF) have assembled a joint border security team to protect the recently captured Shardaw town and the township sharing the same name in Karenni State.

“After we completed our mission in Shardaw Township, KA, KNDF, and civilian representatives met to discuss security for the township,” a man from the local administration said.

He stressed the importance of this action, pointing out the instability in the area.

U Banyar, the second secretary of the Karenni State Interim Executive Council, explained that the newly established border security team would operate under the Shardaw Township Administration.

“It’s like a local security force for Shardaw township,” he said.

KA and KNDF provided a month-long training session for the 220-member team, which includes 25 women. The closing ceremony was held on April 29.

Of these, 50 trainees will work directly with the KNDF, and 12 were selected for the forestry department. The remaining members are assigned tasks within the border security team.
