Chin Resistance Captures Junta's Military Base in Kyatwee Town

The Chin Brotherhood Alliance has declared the successful capture of the Junta's fortified base in Kyatwee (Kyindwe) town, located in Kanpetlet Township, Chin State, marking the Alliance’s first coordinated operation and achievement after a 54-day offensive.

According to the Alliance’s statement released on May 1, the Junta's base was captured

by the Alliance fighters at approximately 9:30am on  April 29th, with the confiscation of nearly 30 assault rifles.

"At the moment, our comrades are actively pursuing the enemy troops who have fled

from the base. Junta forces have deserted their camp, and so no prisoners of war (PoWs) being captured”, Salai Tun Lain Tan, commander of the Chinland Defence Force – Kanpetlet (CDF-Kanpetlet) told Khonumthung News.

The Chin Brotherhood Alliance spearheaded the operation to capture Kyatwee town, with support from the People's Defense Force (PDF), Yaw Defense Force (YDF), Gen Z Army (GZA), local defense forces (LDFs), and tactical assistance from the Arakan Army (AA), contributing to the intensified attack.

CDF-Kanpetlet’s commander confirmed casualties on both sides in the Kyatwee battle but stated that details could not be disclosed for now, also noting that following the town's surrender, the Junta retaliated with extensive airstrikes.

The offensive against the Junta base in Kyatwee commenced on December 22, led by CDF-Kanpetlet in cooperation with other CDF factions and PDF.

However, due to challenges such as insufficient weapons and lack of ammunition, the offensive stalled and remained at a standstill for approximately three months. On March 7, the Chin Brotherhood Alliance assumed the leading role of the operation and intensified efforts, ultimately resulting in the capture of the base after 54 days.

The Chin Brotherhood Alliance stated that throughout the operation, spanning over four months since its inception under CDF-Kanpetlet, the dedication and bravery of the resistance fighters in battle, as well as the steadfast logistical support from the community, were duly noted.

The Chin Brotherhood Alliance comprises the People's Defense Force - Zoland (PDF-Zoland), Maraland Defense Force (MDF), and the 1st Brigade of CDF-Matupi, and CDF-Kanpetlet.
