Nearly 300 houses in Yaemyetni village, Tilin Township, Magway Region, were destroyed by arson committed by the Junta troops, locals told Than Lwin Times.

On April 3, Junta troops ignited a fire that engulfed five houses, spreading rapidly and wreaking havoc, ultimately destroying nearly 300 homes.

A 70-strong military column, originating from a Junta’s weapons factory in the region, perpetrated the arson attack.

The information officer of the Yaw Revolution Army (YRA) confirmed that the entire northern section of the village was reduced to ashes, estimating the loss of between 200 to  300 houses. The YRA also reported that it successfully rescued two individuals, who were trapped during the village's burning.

With over 400 houses destroyed ,Yaemyetni  has seen a majority of its residents displaced since December, amid ongoing regional conflicts.

The military column responsible for burning Yaemyetni village also indiscriminately fired artillery and small arms at neighboring villages.

The Junta continues to brazenly deceive the international community and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), denying any instances of its troops intentionally burning civilian areas.

According to the Institute for Strategy and Policy - Myanmar (ISP-Myanmar), an independent watchdog, Junta troops have been implicated in arson incidents across 106 townships throughout Myanmar since the coup.
