Burma Refugee Committee Calls for India to provide sanctuary   for Myanmar’s War-Displaced Refugees

The Burma Refugee Committee - Kabaw (BRCK) has urged India to continue to provide sanctuary for  Myanmar’s  war-displaced refugees. BRCK issued this appeal amidst plans by the Manipur State government in India to deport Myanmar citizens held in detention centers.

On February 27, the authorities in Manipur repatriated 259 Myanmar nationals who were detained for illegal residence.

Currently, there are 6487 Myanmar citizens held in detention centres in Manipur for illegal residence, with authorities considering their deportation.
