The United League of Arakan (ULA) has announced that the number of people displaced by war has surpassed 300,000 following the resurgence of fighting in the Rakhine State and Paletwa region.

The Humanitarian and Development Cooperation Office, under ULA and its armed wing, the Arakan Army (AA), disclosed this information on February 26th.

In the aftermath of the Three Brotherhood Alliance,(includes the AA)  that launched 'Operation 1027' in northern Shan State on October 27th, the AA expanded the 1027 anti- Junta offensive to  Rakhine State and Paletwa on November 13th.

Prior the resumption of fighting in Rakhine State saw, there was already over 60,000 displaced persons.  But within three months of hostilities reigniting, the number had surged to 331,067.

The fighting also led to at least 121 civilians killed, A total of 357 civilians were reported injured, with 292 individuals arrested by Junta troops.

These figures were compiled over a three-month span, stretching from November 13th, 2023, when the conflicts resumed, to February 13th of this year.

The Myanmar branch of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA) highlighted in a report on the humanitarian situation, released in the third week of February, that the escalating conflicts necessitate increased humanitarian assistance. However the army blockades in Rakhine prevent effective aid delivery.
