Clashes Erupt in Northern Shan State Between TNLA and Military Council

The Ta'ang National Liberation Army (PSLF/TNLA) and the Military Council troops have renewed fighting in Muse Township and Mongngaw Township. After a period of relative calm, fighting between the Military Council troops and the PSLF/TNLA resumed for two consecutive days on July 10 -11.th

Regarding the fighting on July 11, a spokeswoman from the PSLF/TNLA shared an update on the situation. "There was a conflict that took place today near Namtawng village in Muse Township,” she said. However, the spokeswoman mentioned that she was not aware of the specific details regarding the battle that occurred in Muse and Mongngaw townships.

The PSLF/TNLA spokeswoman further stated that while the fighting was taking place in Muse Township, there were also ongoing clashes in Mongngaw Township on July 10.

"On July 10, a conflict erupted between Mongngaw Township and Namtway. The battle endured for approximately 2 to 3 hours, starting from 9 am and lasting beyond 12 pm. The engagement involved Infantry Battalion 257. The reason behind the battle was the preemptive offensive launched by the Myanmar military prior to the incident," she said.

In July, the PSLF/TNLA reported that the troops of the Military Council were advancing deeper into the region where the PSLF/TNLA was actively operating.

According to the PSLF/TNLA, the fighting ensued because the Military Council troops, consisting of approximately 70 soldiers, initiated military operations from Mongngaw township towards the area where the PSLF/TNLA is actively present. During the battle, the PSLF/TNLA reported no casualties on their side. However the status of casualties among the Military Council troops was still unknown at that time.

According to the PSLF/TNLA spokeswoman, there is a heightened military tension in the areas where the fighting is ongoing, and both sides are closely monitoring the situation.

After the military coup, fierce fighting has been raging in the ethnic areas between the military and various ethnic armed resistance organizations, including the Ta'ang National Liberation Army (PSLF/TNLA).

In addition to the fighting between the military and ethnic armed organizations in the ethnic states, there is also intense conflict taking place between the People's Defense Forces (PDF) and the Military Council in various regions.

During the period of intense fighting, the skirmishes came to a halt as the military reduced its offensive attacks on areas under the control of the Ta'ang National Liberation Army (PSLF/TNLA) in northern Shan State.

However, in July, the fighting resumed when the military carried out military operations in the area where the TNLA was active.
