Water-shortage problem in Falam Public Hospital unresolved yet

Both the hospital staffs and patients are facing difficulties due to water shortage at the Falam Public Hospital in Falam, Chin State.

“We give priority in providing water to the villages. They have to travel a long way to Falam. The doctors don’t want to come to Falam due to lack of water. The local residents are thinking about what to do about the issue. We are consulting about whether we should establish a watch group for Falam development,” said Sayar Htaung Beik from Falam.

“We are trying our best. Since the company has been coming to do it, we believed it was its responsibility [to provide water supply]. As it doesn’t do it well, the doctors couldn’t stay long,” he continued.

“I didn’t know that they [the hospital] don’t have water. I didn’t know that the pipeline was broken. Maybe they have been buying water. Compared to Falam, Hakha buys more water. The government doesn’t transport water. If there is a request, it is sent with KBZ vehicle,” said Pu Dar, chair of Falam Municipal Committee.

“Water always runs dry in April and May. Everyone faces difficulties due to the drying up of water resources in the summer. The public has been talking about it. We have been doing our best. I don’t know which company is responsible for the water pipeline,” he explained.
