Two clashes occurred near Kawthlaing village in Yebyu Township, Tanintharyi Region, as military junta forces engaged with allied resistance groups, including the Ramonnya Mon Army (RMA) and local revolutionary units, according to a statement from the anti-junta forces.

The junta deployed around 150 troops from battalions 409, 410, and 282, entering the area once at approximately 11 a.m. and again at 3 p.m. on August 13, prompting the confrontations, Mon State Revolutionary Force (MSRF) spokesperson Mi Tala Nyan said.

“In yesterday’s clashes, our allied units fought for about 50 minutes against two junta columns with roughly 150 soldiers. Fourteen junta officers were killed, while eight resistance fighters were injured, and one civilian sustained injuries,” Mi Tala Nyan reported.

The clashes involved multiple anti-junta groups, including MSRF, Tactical Operation Unit 33, Dawna Battalion 2 (YGF), Dawna Battalion 3 (KBDF), Kaw Thoo Lei Army (KTLA), Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) Battalion 27, and the Ramonnya Mon Army (RMA/NMSP/AD).

Frequent clashes in the Kawthlaing area have forced local residents to remain displaced for over two months. Some have begun returning to their homes due to food shortages, according to local sources.
