The Spring Revolution Interfaith Network has offered a clarion call saying the revolution should be completed within one year from the date of the 34th anniversary of the 8888 People's Uprising.

The call came on Monday, the anniversary of the 1988 pro-democracy uprising in Myanmar and the one-year anniversary of the founding of the Network.

The Spring Revolution Interfaith Network also announced that it is time for the interim president of the National Unity Government (NUG) Duwa Lashi La, to send a message to the public with the responsibility of ending the revolution within a year.

“It has been 18 months since the beginning of the revolution. Any longer is not appropriate. The NUG should make the most out of the opportunity given by the revolution. It's like General Aung San declaring to gain independence within a year and also NUG should declare like General Aung San with great force,” said Tun Kyi, a former political prisoner and a member of steering committee of the Network.

Aung Myo Min, Union Minister of Human Rights of the NUG, also stated that rather than just hating the Military Council that continues to commit acts of violence, it is time to consider ways to resist.

The Network statement urges the Military Council to release the President, State Counselor Aung San Suu Kyi and other political prisoners according to local and international demands and also strongly urges the NUG, Ethnic Revolutionary Organizations (EROs) and other revolutionary forces to unite and continue to fight against the military regime.
