Minister of Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement, Dr Win Myat Aye, wrote on social media that he had reached Ye city, Mon State which has been hit by floods and heavy rain to do relief work.

Dr Win Myat Aye further said in his post that they were going to flood-hit areas by vehicles as helicopters could not land because of bad weather.

House of Nationalities MP Myo Win from Mon State constituency (8) confirmed to Mizzima on August 11 that relief work was currently underway and flood victims badly needed food supplies.

The highway connecting Yangon-Kawthaung was cut in two places in Ye and Yebyu Townships near Mahlwe Mountain and it is likely to take a long time to rebuild the highway, so some bus services plying the route from Ye, Dawei in Mon and Tanintharyi States have to suspend their services.

Meteorologist Tun Lwin warned that thundershowers would be fairly widespread and isolated heavy rainfall in Mon State and Tanintharyi Region over the next 14 days starting from August 11.
