The Mon State Minister of Security and Border Affairs Col. Win Naing Oo has admitted the Mon State Police Force’s lack of cooperation with the Mon State Hluttaw.

He was responding to a question raised by State MP Hluttaw Daw Khine Khine Lei from Thaton Constituency – 1 on whether the Mon State Police Force has a desire to assist in solving the difficulties faced the public, cooperate on the tasks carried out by the Mon State Hluttaw in accordance with the law, and follow the state hluttaw law.

The State Minister of Security and Border Affairs said the Mon State Police Force has the desire to cooperate with the Mon State Hluttaw in line with the law on the issue of sending officials from respective district/township police stations to the Mon State Hluttaw for inquiries in line with the state hluttaw law.

The state police force will also investigate the cases instructed by the Mon State Hluttaw, which give the instructions after receiving complaints and reports from the public, the minister continued.

Within the duty and authority of the state police force, it will follow the tasks carried out by the Mon State Hluttaw in line with the rules and procedures and submit required matters to the state government’s coordination meeting and resubmit them to the hluttaw, according to Col Win Naing Oo.

MP Daw Khine Khine Lei said the Mon State Hluttaw has established affairs committees in line with the law and bylaw of the state hluttaw and the Women and Child Rights Affairs Committee has been handling the complaints submitted by the public.

The committee has been summoning officials from respective departments and organizations in order to find out the truth on the police cases stated in the complaint letters. The committee sent the summoning letters to the state government via the state hluttaw speaker.

“By cooperating with respective departments, we are assisting the public interest. That’s why we have submitted the letter to the state government via the hluttaw speaker,” she said.

She pointed out that the Mon State Police Force did not come even though the committee has summoned all the heads of respective departments in line with Section 67 of the state hluttaw law.

She raised the question on the sixth day of the ninth regular meeting of the Second Mon State Hluttaw on March 30.
