Recovered COVID-19 Patient Discharged from Kengtung Hospital

SENG PHOO — Patient 64 was discharged from the public hospital in Kengtung, eastern Shan State this weekend after testing negative twice for COVID-19.

The patient is now required to complete a seven-day home quarantine.

“His testing results were negative in the seventh and eighth rounds of testing, so we allowed him to leave the hospital on June 14,” Dr. Hla Htay Min, the head of Kengtung’s public hospital, told SHAN.

Patient 64 is from Mong Hpyet Township and tested positive for COVID-19 on April 15. He was the first confirmed coronavirus patient in eastern Shan State.

“No confirmed case remains in our hospital but we still have three suspected cases in our hospital,” Dr. Hla Htay Min told SHAN.

At the time of reporting, the Ministry of Health and Sports had 262 confirmed cases of COVID-19, 6 deaths and 175 recoveries in the country.

There have been 10 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Shan State. Among them, seven patients have been discharged from the hospital, and three continue to receive care in Muse and Taunggyi.
