People’s Defense Forces in Mandalay (PDF-Mandalay) are planning to ramp up their Military operations in 2023.

The Ministry of Defense of the National Unity Government (NUG) stated, “ Plans and Military matters to be implemented in 2023 were approved at the meeting, and PDF Mandalay’s officials also presented and discussed their requirements”.

PDF-Mandalay is a revolutionary force formed under the command of the NUG’s

Ministry of Defense and currently consists of 5 battalions numbered 1201, 1202, 1203, 1204 and 1205, according to PDF-Mandalay. Efforts are also being made to expand and form new battalions.

PDF-Mandalay’s battalions were fighting against the Military Council troops in Maymyo (Pyin Oo Lwin) and Nawnghkio (Naungcho) by the end of 2022.

PDF-Mandalay also claimed that many coup junta soldiers were killed during those clashes.
