More than 200 young men in Mon State have been drafted under the junta’s Batch 25 conscription, according to sources close to the military regime.
Junta-appointed officials in Mon State met the newly conscripted young people on May 23 and reportedly provided them with financial support.
These young men were conscripted after being forcibly taken off the streets, detained during raids on their homes, or arrested on various charges, before being sent for military training.
Additionally, junta troops and police officers reportedly arrested young people for various reasons and then transferred them to ward administrators responsible for conscription, for payments ranging from 5 million to 8 million MMK per person.
According to information obtained by Than Lwin Times, the total number of people drafted in Mon State across the junta’s 25 conscription batches has reportedly exceeded 5,200.
Meanwhile, on May 14, the junta instructed authorities to register eligible individuals for conscription, aiming to summon them in a systematic rotation.
