According to NUG information officer U Nay Phone Latt, some judicial proceedings are already under way and some cases have begun to be handled in areas controlled by the National Unity Government (NUG).

The NUG's Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration is working with the Ministry of Justice to begin legal proceedings in some territories.

According to U Nay Phone Latt, the NUG’s police force will make arrests and handle particular issues in a timely manner.

The National Unity Government has already opened cases about the war crimes committed by the military council, and said that the perpetrators will be detained and the trials will soon be made public with legal evidence.

U Nay Phone Latt continued, "If the judicial system is in place, the residents of the territory governed by the revolutionary forces will be protected by the law, and the two administrative and judicial systems will function in harmony to demonstrate that it is a fair government and create a good judicial system.

It is stated that judges with outstanding morals and qualifications have been chosen since the legal system is based on the trust of the people.

According to U Kaung Myat Thu, Director General of the National Unity Government's Judiciary Development and Courts Monitoring and Regulation Department, both civil and military crimes would be examined in this legal system.
