Col. Win Zaw Oo from Western Military Command headquarters told Mizzima that there was no security threat for State Counsellor Aung San Sui Kyi in her Manaung tour despite three remote mine explosions.

Three remotely triggered mines went off in Manaung town on December 19 at about 6 a.m. before the arrival of the State Counsellor.

Col. Win Zaw Oo said, “We made a outer ring security cordon for her visit. And also, Myanmar Police Force is taking security for her. We cannot say the location but there was no security threat to her.”

Col. Win Zaw Oo from Western Military Command HQ told Mizzima that the location of the explosions was on a road near Manaung Hotel exit gate.

The State Counsellor inaugurated the government-run solar power plant in Manaung.

This solar power plant was built by South Korea based Posco Daewoo and will distribute electricity to 5 wards in Manaung town and 2 villages in the township.
