Approximately 750 houses have been deliberately set ablaze and subsequently destroyed by the Junta’s troops  in Tanintharyi Region, from January to the third week of November this year.

In November alone, over 30 houses were incinerated in Yebyu, Launglon, and Kawthoung townships, with similar incidents reported in various other locations.

In October, the Military Council set fire to 44 houses in Yebyu, Launglon, Thayetchaung, and Palaw townships, marking the highest incidence of arson in these four townships within a three-month span.

An official of a People's Defense Team (PDT) in the Tanintharyi Region informed Than Lwin Times that the Military Council frequently employs the deliberate burning of residential houses as a tactic to instill fear in the local population, discouraging support for the resistance movement.

During these operations aimed at targeting and pursuing resistance forces, the coup regime’s troops frequently engage in premeditated arson in many different locations.

Residents also alleged that before the houses were set on fire, soldiers frequently engaged in looting valuables, livestock, and other belongings from those homes.

In Tanintharyi Region, Palaw and Launglon, marked by frequent clashes between the Military Council and resistance forces, have emerged as the most heavily impacted townships ravaged by the arson attacks carried out by the vindictive Military Council, according to FE5 Tanintharyi.
