More than 20000 Khin-U residents in Sagaing fleeing war need medicine blankets and clothes

As the Military Council launched operations with two columns, setting fire to residential villages in Khin-U township of Sagaing region, more than 20000 residents fled in terror. Volunteers

helping the refugees to find safety, say they are in dire need of medicine, blankets and clothes.

Two columns of the Military Council entered the northern and southern areas of Khin-U on November 18, and burned more than 500 houses in at least 10 villages, locals said.

“It’s getting cold in this area as it is now winter. The north wind blows at night. We need to arrange accommodation for the refugees to sleep at night, meaning we have establish temporary shelters. Now they have to live on tarpaulin sheets. They also need medicine”, a volunteer said.

He added that some of those fleeing the war in Khin-U are taking refuge in the forest areas. He told KNG that there are many elderly people, children and people suffering poor health conditions are among those fleeing the war.

The two Military Council columns killed 6 innocent people for no reason, and 2 members of the Local Defense Force were also martyred.

According to the Khin-U township true news information Facebook page, the Military Council have burned down more than 2,500 houses and killed over 200 people in 55 villages in Khin-U in the period after the 2021 coup.
