Leaders from the United Wa State Army (UWSA) and National Democratic Alliance Army (NDAA), will meet with State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi and military chief General Min Aung Hlaing in Nay Pyi Taw today to try to build trust among the parties prior to the government’s major peace conference, RFA has reported.

The two-day meeting is an important step for Aung San Suu Kyi’s 21st-Century Panglong Peace Conference scheduled for late August.

The USWA and NDAA, also known as the Mongla Army, have already said they will participate in the peace conference.
