Military seizes over 15 million kyats from NLD village chairman's house

NLD Chairman Kyaw Oo was arrested by the military in Thanhlyatmaw West Ward, Maha Aungmye township in Mandalay and they took more than 15 million kyats worth of gold, cash and other property from his house.

Kyaw Oo's wife told Mizzima that the military council’s forces arrived and took their property on August 28 and tortured Kyaw Oo's family members.

"They entered through the fence, ordered us to prostrate ourselves and tortured us. My son was beaten. They rummaged and confiscated possessions worth over 15 million kyats,” said Kyaw Oo's wife.

Currently, the family is in hiding for fear soldiers will come again.
