Military Kill Teenagers in Sagaing Region

The military shot dead two youths in Tamu District, Sagaing Region, on Saturday, July 10. The next day authorities informed their parents in Nawng Ket village to retrieve their bodies.

Soldiers killed the ethnic Kuki teenagers and injured another during the 10 pm attack on Min Tha bridge in Kyun Pin Tha village.

At least four others were with them, and some—or all—escaped when the soldiers opened fire, a man from Tamu town familiar with the incident informed Khonumthung News.

A day earlier, soldiers arrested four youths from Nawng Ket at 10 pm. A resident told Khonumthung News soldiers took them to a military camp in Tamu town and prevented their families from visiting them.

“Before when soldiers arrested civilians they transferred them to the police station. I don't know if the military sent these youths to the station because no one has been able to see them,” the source said.

Their family tried to visit them but the authorities wouldn't allow it. The resident couldn't say why the soldiers grabbed the youths, who are only farmers.

The detainees are Hin Lin Mang, Ram Lin Mong, Sung Min Thang and Lal Lin San.
