Military council arrests Yebyu residents as human shields

The regime forces, which invaded Hnankye and Kyezutaw villages in Tanintharyi Region’s Yebyu Township, arrested at least 20 residents, the locals told Than Lwin Times.

A military council column of more than 130 troops entered Hnankye and Kyezutaw villages on September 25 and deployed there.

The military forces arrested at least 20 villagers from Kyezutaw and nearby villages and detained them at the checkpoint.

Currently, the military council is checking the villages on the pretext of the overnight guest list and inspecting the suspected pedestrians and motorcyclists.

The junta forces have been arresting villagers from Hnankye, Kyayzutaw, Karenshinhtamain, Yebone, and Kalonehtar villages.

Families are fleeing to safe places in the town as the Military Council hunts down young people.

The junta armed forces entered the territory controlled by the KNU Brigade 4 in Dawei-Myeik District, Yebyu Township, causing tension between the two sides.
