Leading committee established to register Kachin State Party

A leading committee, also known as Ningshawng Komiti, has been established during the four parties’ meeting held at Hotel Madira in Myitkyina, Kachin State on August 18 to start the party registration.

The Kachin State Democracy Party (KSDP) leader Dr Tu Ja said the leading committee was established with 25 members with five members from each party and five non-party members.

A party fundraising subcommittee has also been established, he continued.

However, the 27-member working committee, which has been established on August 11 during the meeting on the Karty partie’ merger, will regulate and advise the main policies of the KSP. This working committee has been established by adding ten more experts to the 17-member committee that was established the Kachin National Consultative Assembly, also known as the WMR.

The Kachin merged pary comprises the the Kachin Democratic Party (KDP), the Kachin State Democracy Party (KSDP), the Kachin National Congress (KNC), and the Unity and Democracy Party of Kachin State (UDPKS)

The four parties have agreed to abolish their parties after the Kachin State Party becomes an official party.

The four Kachin parties are trying to establish the Kachin State Party with the aim to establish a big party that represents all Kachin and non-Kachin people in the Kachin State.
