Khami National Development Party (KNDP) spokesman and central committee member Aung Aung said that they had to contest the 2020 general elections to get their correct ethnic identity.

The Union Election Commission (UEC) referred to their party in statements as ‘Khamwee’ wrongly and also in Seventh Grade school text books of Geography they are mentioned as ‘Khamwee’ too.

They could not accept this and were trying to get their true and rightful identity as they thought it had become an issue since they had no organization which could represent their ethnic race, he said.

Khami National Development Party (KNDP) contested the 2010 and 2015 general elections but did not win any seats.
