KIA Captured Over 70 Junta Military Installations in Two-Month Offensive

The Kachin Independence Army (KIA) captured approximately 70 military installations of various sizes belonging to the Junta within a two-month offensive.

On March 7, KIA initiated a coordinated offensive targeting both the Junta's bases near Laiza Town  the KIA's headquarters, and the Junta's fortifications along the Myitkyina-Bhamo Road.

Colonel Naw Bu, spokesperson for KIA, announced the capture of 70 Junta bases and camps situated along the Myitkyina-Bhamo-Lwegel Road, as well as in the operational zones of KIA's 1st and 9th Brigades. “We have captured about 70 bases and camps of various sizes”, he said.

Following General N'Ban La's prediction that 2024 would bring visible change, the KIA intensified its offensives against the junta in northern Shan State and Kachin State. Additionally, on March 7, the KIA initiated fighting along the strategically crucial Myitkyina-Bhamo Road.

The KIA successfully seized Junta camps including Hkaya Bum, Bumre Bum, Hpun Hpyen Bum, Intat Bum, as well as key fortresses of Seinlong and Yawyon in the Momauk-Lwegel area. It also secured control over small camps like Lawmun, Lawdan, Shangtai, and Hpalang Bum around Laiza. KIA also gained control over Lwegel Town on the Chinese border, a significant hub for the border economy.

KIA shows no signs of slowing down its offensives and continues to relentlessly attack Junta troops across Kachin State on multiple fronts.
