The Kayah State Chief Minister U L Phaung Sho said the Kayah (Karenni) State has little job opportunities due to lack of factories and workshops that can employ many workers.

“I want to ask you. Does our state have factories and workshops? What kind of factories and workshops does it have?” the chief minister questioned.

The chief minister said this in response to the questions raised by youths on the lack of job opportunities in the state during the certificate awarding ceremony of Seh Thae Learning Center’s batch 4 held on March 20.

“Why are there little job opportunities for the youths?” asked a student from Seh Thae Learning Center.

The chief minister said there are job opportunities in other states and regions in Myanmar due to the establishment of factories and workshops in the electricity sector, cement factory, and mining sector.

“There are job opportunities in those areas for the people who passed the matriculation exam and those that haven’t passed the matriculation exam and graduated people based on their educational qualifications,” he said.

He added that factories, workshops and projects will be implemented in the state without harming the environment and urged the public not to object.

“How can we create job opportunities for the children from here without these factories and workshops? Objections shouldn’t be made if the state government were to build the factories and workshops without harming the environment in order to [create job opportunities],” he said.
