“Some companies meet the standard. As for some companies, we have informed the ministries about our findings in line with the tender rules and regulations,” said U Aung Naing Oo, chairman of the Government’s Guarantees, Pledges, and Undertakings Vetting Committee.

The Government’s Guarantees, Pledges, and Undertakings Vetting Committee and the Public Accounts Committee, which have been established by the Karenni State Hluttaw, gave the remarks after conducting field trips.

“The State (the Burmese Government) has provided full budget to a company. We don’t need to inspect if it has met the road’s quality control,” he added.

The Government’s Guarantees, Pledges, and Undertakings Vetting Committee inspected the retaining walls and fire brigade buildings in Ywar Thit on 12 January.

Although the committee has submitted all their findings to respective ministries, only some ministries have given them responses, according to the committee members.

Some projects have been temporarily halted by the committee for failing to give information about the projects on signboards.

A quality control team has been formed to inspect the quality of the projects, U Hlaing Myo Win, a civil staff officer from Bridge Special Unit - 6 under the Ministry of Construction, explained at the Karenni Day Exhibition.

“A three-member team is formed first to do the inspection. They inspect when they receive a complaint. If it turns out to be true, actions are taken against those who are responsible,” said U Hlaing Myo Win.

The Government’s Guarantees, Pledges, and Undertakings Vetting Committee and the Public Accounts Committee plan to raise a question meant for taking actions against unqualified companies in the Hluttaw (Parliament) and submit to the President whether the actions have been taken or not correspondingly.
