Junta's Flame Bomb Attacks Ignite Fires in Loikaw Downtown Wards, KNDF Warns Residents Against Returning Home

The Karenni Nationalities Defense Force (KNDF) reported on February 21st that flame bombs were launched on downtown wards of Loikaw Township by the Military Council, via drones and long-range weapons, resulting in the destruction of many houses.

Junta troops unilaterally attacked with flame bombs, igniting fires in five locations across  Shwetaung, Mingalar, and Pozarchan ward.

In Loikaw, clashes between the Military Council and resistance forces are a daily occurrence, with the Military Council frequently resorting to artillery, drones, and aircraft for bombing. Therefore, KNDF has urged displaced residents not to return to their homes.

Despite the daily armed clashes in Loikaw, resistance forces have reported that some wards still have inhabitants.

"Despite the ongoing intense fighting, residents come and go for various reasons. In wards such as Kyitharyar and Nambawwam, where numerous military families reside, many local residents continue with their daily routines”, a KNDF member said.

Amid ongoing fighting in Loikaw, KNDF advises displaced individuals against returning home or attempting to retrieve their belongings
