Junta arrests some locals as human shields in Htilin

The regime forces advancing towards the Magway region’s Htilin Township arrested at least six local residents, the sources told Than Lwin Times.

On September 18, the military council took six people, two  from Khatton village, Gangawo Township, and four residents from Nyaungle village, to Anyataw village, Htilin Township, as human shields.

Of the six people arrested as human shields, only Ko Maung Myint, Ko Maung Maung Hlaing and Ko Po Thar, who are from the village of Nyaungle, have been identified, and the rest have not yet been confirmed at the time of reporting.

The Military Council has not yet released the local people who were arrested as human shields.

On September 16, the Military Council arrested four people from Myayni village in the south of Gangaw Township and forced them to carry military equipment and later released them on September 18.

Fighting continues between the junta army and the PDFs in the areas of Htilin, Gangaw and Yaw along the Chin-Magway border.   During that battle, regime forces were torching homes belonging to civilians, detaining, and killing them.
