India-Myanmar conference held in Imphal

The India-Myanmar conference on “Connecting India’s Northeast with North West region of Myanmar: Roadmap for all-round Prosperity” began yesterday in Imphal, according to local media reports.

Delhi-based India Foundation in collaboration with Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India and Government of Manipur organised the conference to analyse the infrastructure deficit along border region on both sides and enhance the connectivity.

The conference consisted of of two sessions, one on ‘Physical Connectivity: The Infrastructure Deficit’, and ‘Connectivity: The Way Ahead’

Speaking during the programme, Chief Minister N Biren Singh said that India’s Act East Policy is a reflection to deepen ties with the ASEAN region, especially with Myanmar.

Magway Region Chief Minister Dr. Aung Moe Nyo said that Manipur has huge potential in areas like of medical tourism.

Narrating the good relationship and friendly ties between India and Myanmar, he also stressed the importance of strengthening the relationship between the countries in future.
