Impact of local order on people’s livelihoods in Ye

The local order issued by the military council in Mon State’ Ye Township is disrupting people's travel and livelihood, the residents told Than Lwin Times.

After regime offices frequently suffered targeted attacks, the authorities issued a local order on August 5 to ensure the safety of the people, the rule of law and the peace and stability of Ye Township.

The statement said that it is forbidden to travel beyond the area without a recommendation letter from the relevant administrators and NRC, and the passage of any vehicle or person is restricted between 8:00 p.m. and 4:00 a.m.

Similarly, two men are not allowed to ride on the same motorcycle, and a man is not allowed to ride in the backseat driven by a woman, and roads leading to the offices are also prohibited from passing through.

The local order of the military council is causing problems for the motorcycle taxi drivers and the people's transportation and livelihood, a local said.

The military council said they will take action against those who violate the local order under existing law or under Article 188 of the Penal Code.

After the local order was issued, the military regime has tightened security in Ye Township and is conducting continuous searches and inspections. Residents are worried about being shot amid tight security.

The local order came after Ye Balu, a resistance force, attacked the immigration office, leaving three dead, including the deputy immigration officer of Ye on August 3.
