Gunman Kills Retired Military Captain

Suspects involved in the killing remain at large.

A retired military captain was killed at about 7 pm yesterday in Kyaukme in Myanmar’s restive northern Shan State.

U Ye Lin Aung was on a motorbike with a colleague passing a mosque in downtown Kyaukme when he was shot with a single bullet to his chest by an unknown gunman also on a motorbike, according to U Tin Maung Thein, from the Ziwita social organization.

After the gunman and accomplice drove away. They remain at large.

When contacted by SHAN, Kyaukme police refused to comment on the murder case.

Locals told SHAN the victim’s father-in-law is Thit Lwin, a famous local businessman.
