Gov’t And Burma Army Attending Shan National Day

NANG SENG NOM  - At this year’s Shan National Day commemoration in Loi Tai Leng government representatives and high-ranking Burma Army representatives will be in attendance.

Lt Col Sai Mueng, the spokesperson for the Restoration Council of Shan State/Shan State Army (RCSS/SSA), told SHAN five representatives from the Burma Army and six government representatives will join.

According to the RCSS/SSA, Lt Gen Aye Win will lead the Burma Army delegation and Tun Tun Oo, the vice-chairperson for the National Reconciliation and Peace Centre, will lead the government delegation during the 73rd anniversary of Shan National Day, which takes place tomorrow.

Sai Mueng said a Chinese delegation won’t attend the national day commemoration but representatives from Switzerland and the Netherlands will be joining.

“Representatives from the NCA (Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement) EAOs (ethnic armed organizations) will also attend the Shan National Day commemoration in Loi Tai Leng,” the spokesperson said.
