Fisherman missing and another escape in Myebon after being shot by two military deserters

In Htuchey village, Myebon township, Rakhine state, it was reported that one fisherman was lost in the water and the other escaped with his life after being shot by two soldiers fleeing the Military Council.

In the incident that happened around 5:00 a.m. on February 8, two soldiers who fled with weapons from the military shot two fishermen from Htuchey village in Myebon township, one was hit in the thigh and fell into the water and went missing, while the other was kicked into the water but survived.

The missing person is U Maung San Nyunt, 36, who was shot in the thigh, while the survivor is Ko Zaw Min Thein, 26.

According to a villager, boat owner U Maung San Nyunt and Ko Zaw Min Thein from Htuchey  illage, Myebon Township were fishing in a Honda boat early in the morning of February 8 near Thantama Lighthouse, Myebon Township, when two soldiers who had fled the military approached them on a boat and pointed guns at them sayingthat stay quiet and if not, they would be shot.

After that, they were asked to take them to the shore, but because it was fishing time, they delayed, so they shot U Maung San Nyunt's thigh with a gun, kicked Ko Zaw Min Thein, who was on the boat, into the water and took the Honda boat away.

U Maung San Nyunt, who was shot in the thigh, is still missing, and Ko Zaw Min Thein, who was kicked into the water, was rescued by a boat owner living in the same village.

Maung San Nyunt is still missing in the water. I think he's dead. Ko Zaw Min Thein has escaped."

It is said that the 2 soldiers took the Honda boat and ran away.
