The displaced people fleeing the conflict in KNU-administered Kawthoolei have recently received less humanitarian assistance, the Karen relief organizations told Than Lwin Times.

There are over 350, 000 IDPs in KNU-controlled six districts, and KNU and other charitable organizations provide them with assistance.

When the fighting began, there was enough aid for the refugees, but as the months went by, they received less aid, a volunteer from the Karen social welfare group said.

As time goes by, the IDPs in the KNU’s Kawthoolei area have been facing shortages of basic foodstuffs and medicine.

"We try as much as we can to meet the needs of people fleeing the war, but we can't cover them all,  aw Lay Kapaw, ‌ a spokesman for the Karen Peace Support Network (KPSN) said.

"Some have returned to the village, but they cannot do anything for a living. Now we can support them as much as they need. All of them cannot be fully supported yet," he said.

As the fighting between the military council and the KNLA joint forces continues in the KNU-controlled areas, the number of people displaced by the war has increased more than ever, and they need more humanitarian assistance.

The Karen National Union (KNU) announced that it welcomes any group or individual who is willing to support the refugees.
